As the nation was forced to shut down due to the Coronavirus pandemic, people across the US were feeling completely isolated as they remained quarantined at home. Restaurants, schools, the workplace, places of worship, and almost all other public spaces were shut down for the foreseeable future. The cornerstone of the US is the unique comradery that’s felt among one another as Americans, which made the fly overs that took place in April that much more special.

The Blue Angels and Thunderbirds are two squadrons that showcase enhanced military aviation. They perform at shows and flyovers all of the US to inspire hope and show off America’s extreme military might. The fly overs that took place in late April were meant to do just that, show that even as the pandemic remained in the US, the United States would remain as strong as ever.

Residents in New York City came together to watch the jets fly over about an hour to salute those on the front lines fighting the virus. Many in the city hadn’t been able to see anybody else for nearly a month as lockdown restrictions had prevented almost all human contact. Residents cheered as they saw the jets coming down from Yonkers and loop around the city for all to see.

Fly overs like this happened all across the country from DC to Houston and as far as Las Vegas. These allowed residents across the US to have a chance to see their neighbors and watch something that is truly uniquely American.
